A rallye is basically an adult treasure hunt in a car. You have a driver and a navigator.
Route Instructions: You get a set of Route Instructions that tell you where what roads to go on and where to make turns. To make it more interesting, the directions are written in rallye shorthand, eg., FAL = First Available Left; TL = Traffic Light, etc. A key is provided for these abbreviations. In most cases the actual road name is not given. This way the end point remains a mystery…until you get there. All part of the fun.
Clues: Between route instructions, you are asked to find numbered clues along the way, and write down your answers if you find them. Frequently, the clues my be hinted at in unique ways, such as an inference, and sometimes just plain tricky. Most clues are unique things that are particularly interesting, different, or quirky. The secret is to get into the Rally Master‘s head, and get used to his distorted way of asking clue questions. Example: Where is fido? The answer is a street address number. The object might be a dog yard ornament next to a fire hydrant.
Free Zones: At FCCC we incorporate "free zones" into the route. These are stretches of road that you drive without looking for clues. This gives your head a chance to relax and enjoy the drive.
Scoring: There is a restaurant that has set up just for the Club at the rallye end point. Here, you will be given a set of Route Instructions, with answers. You score your own rallye on how many missed questions you had. It doesn‘t really matter. FCCC rallyes are just for fun, and there are no trophies. Maybe after word gets around some hammed up bragging rights.
What if you get lost? We always give each team a Panic Envelop, with the name/location. As organizers, we have to let the restaurant know in advance, approximately how many people will be attending. They are preparing a limited special menu. Please sign up early!

this is the monthly meeting of the Club. People tend to arrive as early as 5:30-6:00pm and mingle outside and/or order dinner inside so they are done by the start of the meeting.
